The Delhi Capitals return to the Arun Jaitley Stadium looking to reverse their recent home troubles as defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) come to town.

DC, led for the first time this season by Axar Patel, began IPL 2025 in blistering fashion, winning their opening four matches. However, their form has faltered since returning to Delhi, where they've suffered two losses in three outings — their sole win coming in a tense Super Over finish.

Their recent performances raise serious concerns, especially with the ball. Against Mumbai Indians, DC fell short chasing 206 despite being in control until Karun Nair’s dismissal in the 12th over. Versus Rajasthan Royals, they were on the brink of defeat again, only for Mitchell Starc to defend nine runs in the final over, forcing a Super Over. Their clash with Royal Challengers Bengaluru saw their bowlers fail to capitalize on an early collapse.

A significant dip in form from key players has contributed to DC’s inconsistency. KL Rahul, who burst onto the scene with 185 runs in his first three appearances (having missed the season opener), has since managed just 179 runs in his last five innings, with his strike rate dipping from 169.72 to 127.85.

The decline in bowling form has been equally damaging. In his third season with Kolkata Knight Riders, Rahmanullah Gurbaz now has the opportunity for a consistent run in the playing XI, stepping in for Quinton de Kock at the top of the order. KKR’s opening stand has been a persistent issue, and the team will be hoping Gurbaz can establish a solid partnership with Sunil Narine. However, Gurbaz has had a quiet start — dismissed for just one run in his first match and remaining unbeaten on 1 in the rain-affected game against Punjab Kings. He’ll be looking to make a stronger impact in the upcoming clash in Delhi.
